Current Conservation × Anomalie Tattoo Co.: Turning Art into Awareness

At Anomalie Tattoo Co., we have always seen art as a living force, a quiet revolution that moves through hearts, speaks without words, and rekindles our connection with the natural world. When we discovered Current Conservation Magazine, which beautifully brings together the precision of science and the imagination of art to tell stories of biodiversity and its protection, it felt like meeting kindred spirits.

They translate the language of the wild, the rhythm of forests, the whisper of rivers, the heartbeat of ecosystems, into art that people can see and feel.

A Shared Vision

When we first reached out to the team at Current Conservation Magazine, it wasn’t just to collaborate. It was to join hands in a shared purpose to use creativity as a bridge between education, conservation, and self-expression.

Together, we explored ideas that could combine tattoos, storytelling, and environmental awareness. We arrived at a simple but powerful concept.

A Fungi-Themed Art Contest.

The Secret Life Beneath Our Feet 🍄

Fungi are among the most extraordinary beings on our planet. Hidden beneath the soil, they form vast, intelligent networks that connect trees, recycle nutrients, and bring new life from decay.

They are nature’s silent communicators, balancing ecosystems, supporting biodiversity, and keeping forests alive. Without fungi, life as we know it could not continue.

To celebrate these unsung heroes, Anomalie Tattoo Co. and Current Conservation Magazine invited everyone to interpret fungi through their own creative lens. We wanted to see how art could illuminate the vital role fungi play in biodiversity conservation and the renewal of life.

What followed was magical.

We received an incredible range of submissions, delicate, surreal, and deeply emotional depictions of fungi as the quiet lifelines of our planet. Every piece carried a sense of wonder and respect for the living world. Selecting just five designs from so many remarkable entries was almost impossible.

From Art to Awareness

The top five artworks were transformed into temporary tattoos, turning these artistic reflections into wearable symbols of biodiversity. Each tattoo tells a story of connection, growth, decay, and the beauty of nature’s cycles.

Every artist will earn a commission from the sales of their tattoo, because supporting creators who use their art to inspire conservation is at the heart of what we do.

Through this initiative, we wanted to show how even a small piece of art can carry a message much larger than itself, a reminder that protecting the natural world begins with awareness.

A Moment of Joy and Pride

In the last week of September, Current Conservation Magazine presented our fungi tattoo collection at the Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS) – Bangalore, a gathering of scientists, artists, and young conservationists from across the country.

Seeing our work displayed there, surrounded by people who dedicate their lives to protecting biodiversity, was a deeply humbling and joyful moment. It reminded us that art can belong anywhere, even in the halls of science, because both seek to understand and preserve life.

More Than a Collaboration

This partnership between Anomalie Tattoo Co. and Current Conservation Magazine is more than a project. It is a small act of hope. It is proof that art and science together can tell powerful stories that awaken empathy and inspire change.

Through this collaboration, we are reminded that biodiversity conservation doesn’t only happen in forests or laboratories. It happens in the human heart, when someone pauses to notice, to feel, and to care.

We believe that every artwork carries a seed of awareness.
And when that seed finds a heart ready to listen,
it grows into understanding.

This is how we choose to contribute to the conservation of biodiversity — through art, awareness, and love for the living world.
