Celebrating Art & Conservation: Meet the Winners of Our Fungi Tattoo Design Contest

Celebrating Art & Conservation: Meet the Winners of Our Fungi Tattoo Design Contest

This summer, Anomalie Tattoo Co. teamed up with Current Conservation Magazine to celebrate the hidden beauty of fungi through a one-of-a-kind collaboration — a Temporary Tattoo Design Contest. Artists from across India sent in their interpretations of mushrooms, mycelium, and the magical worlds fungi create, turning science into wearable art.

We were blown away by the creativity and detail in every submission, but after much deliberation, five designs stood out. These winning designs will be made into limited-edition temporary tattoos, launching at Current Conservation’s special Fungi Issue release event this September.

🌟 Our Winning Artists

Danya Sethi – A whimsical bird dancing among mushrooms, capturing the joy and playfulness of the natural world.

Shanyu Bihani – An intricate, symmetrical composition where fungi, insects, and imagination meet.

Arnab Sikder – A bold, haunting fusion of a bird skull and mushrooms, symbolizing cycles of life and decay.

Akshay Chauhan – A delightful, surreal scene of a frog nestled in a mushroom cluster.

Sourav Paul – Elegant, fan-like gills of fungi transformed into a striking black-and-gold tattoo form.

Each design tells a unique story — from the resilience and mystery of mushrooms to their role as connectors in our ecosystems.

Why Fungi?

Fungi are everywhere, quietly shaping life on Earth. They recycle nutrients, support forests, and even inspire medicines. Through this contest, we wanted to highlight their importance and give artists a chance to share how they see this often-overlooked kingdom of life.

Where You Can Find Them

The winning tattoos will be available at the Current Conservation Fungi Issue launch event in September 2025, where art and science come together to spark new conversations. Later, they’ll also be available in the Anomalie shop as a special collection.

Final Thoughts

We’re so grateful to Current Conservation and to every artist who participated. The contest reminded us that tattoos can be more than decoration — they can be storytelling tools, a way to wear your values and connect with bigger ideas.

Stay tuned for the September launch, and come celebrate fungi, art, and creativity with us!
